What bitmap formats can I convert to SVG?

You can convert JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP and non-animated GIF files. Animated GIF files are not accepted.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding and vector reconstruction run locally in your browser. Your source image is not sent to a server.

Does the exported SVG contain a bitmap image?

No. The result is validated to contain vector paths, gradients and transparency masks without an embedded image.

How maximum fidelity works

The image is rebuilt from adaptive SVG paths, multi-stop linear and radial gradients, and a traced transparency outline. High-error areas are subdivided until the requested fidelity is reached.
